Imagine your guests walking into your wedding venue with a beautiful glowing candle waiting for them as their seating “card”. Each guest takes their candle to the assigned table as the soft glow of each tealight casts a sense of warmth and romance. This is what I envisioned when I walked into Bright Endeavors’ studio and saw row-after-row of stunning candles. Not only are they beautiful, they are also environmentally sustainable and socially handmade.

Bright Endeavors is a non-profit green business, using vegetable-based waxes, natural botanicals, Dead Sea salts and reclaimed/recycled glass. Each product is handmade and packaged by motivated program participants. EB is helping these participants — young parents (aged 17-24) — transition into economic stability. Through its parent agency, New Moms, Inc., BE gives these young women on-the-job experience and skills to use in the work force. “For many of these women, it’s their first job ever where they learn how to work with a team, clock in and out, and find skills they never knew they had,” explains Dana Emanuel, with Bright Endeavors. Through this program these young mothers find support and training, a positive environment, and often permanent job placement.

Need 200 teacups or 50 mason jars filled with sustainable wax? From a DIY or budget friendly standpoint, I love how easy it is to work with Bright Endeavors. Bring in your own containers and they can fill them by how many ounces you need. They have beautiful scents to choose from, as well as unscented options. If the wedding or event is outdoors, you can get citronella scents as well.
