Summer Indie Wed 2013

For Indie Wed this summer we puckered up in our handmade kissing booth! It was a ton of fun to watch couples, friends, parents, and even babies get behind the booth and smooch. We took polaroid shots (with Tuan Bui’s neat Fuji Camera) as keepsakes for each person who stopped by.

Our booth included some cute signage that we made from repurposed windows and painted on with chalkboard markers. We used a lot of mint and ivory details to keep it light for summer and a splash of gold for sparkle. Larkspur provided some beautiful flowers to adorn our booth and Jessie’s ladder was the perfect touch of shabby chic. A special thanks to Nimble Well for allowing us to use her backdrop frame to hang all of our cut pieces of fabric to finish the look.

Not only did we design one booth this year– we designed TWO! Our photographer pal, Tuan Bui, asked if we would like to help out with his booth. The only thing he knew he wanted was some type of game where couples could win crazy cool prizes and for it not look too girly. That started the creativity spark and I knew this booth had to be vintage carnival themed.

Tuan’s booth had it all, painted elephants, crates and suitcase, crushed velvet curtains, kitschy signage, and  a magnetic dartboard. We used old window frames from the Rebuilding Exchange for the signage and found an old cabinet door for the dartboard. The suitcases came from Shadowbox Dreams and I sewed the fabric backdrop, almost in a straight line! We used an old wooden ladder to showcase Tuan’s outstanding work and placed a few fun details, including golden animals and vintage cameras. The final product looked perfect and the details were so fun for Tuan and I to design.
