Jessie is a rockstar and has worked at Naturally Yours Events for over a year now. This lady can troubleshoot, calm the nerves, and stylize any sweets table to look award winning! She is amazing and that’s why she is on our team.
I am sure you are dying to know a little bit more about her. Without further adieu, I give you Jessie Martinez, Associate Event Planner Extraordinaire!
How would you describe yourself? I’m a quirky little jumping bean that gets excited about so many things. I like turning nothing into something and believe in using your imagination any time you can. I am a hopeless optimist. I can be a bit shy and low-key until you know me, but as soon as I open up I’m goofy and sarcastic. I’m famous for telling awful jokes. I can be a bit intense about planning, since it has always been second nature to me. I am absolutely driven and have a lot of plans for “when I grow up”. Some of my hobbies include having ownership of the T.V. remote, never finishing my cup of coffee, and eating things I can’t pronounce.
What is your definition of “happiness”? Happiness is when I think about my Chicago family and realize Chicago is truly my home. Happiness is relaxing on the couch after a long couple of days with a nice glass of wine and your favorite most embarrassing reality television show. It is tasting that first bite of a meal that will change your life. It is traveling and having adventures in places you’ve never thought you’d find yourself. It is talking to your best friend about everything while eating junk food you would never admit to eating.
If you had to pick one, which animal fits your personality? I would most likely be a penguin. I am loyal, I am pretty darn adorable, and I like to do things right. I also look great in a suit.
What are you really bad at that you’d love to be great at? I would love to be a good beat boxer! In all honestly though I would love to grow within the world of wine. I’ve been a wine enthusiast for nearly 4 years now, but there is still so many things I don’t know. I actually just won my first blind tasting recently, so maybe I’m not as bad as I thought!
What’s the farthest from home you’ve ever been? I have visited the Caribbean a few times and that place is absolutely amazing. Recently I have also explored Northern California and I am simply in love with it there. Northern California to me is looking into the Pacific ocean after tasting some incredible wines and eating in-season strawberries you bought from a stand off the side of the highway. One can see why I like it so much.
What do you like to do in your spare time? Spare time? When I’m not working at my chef-driven, farm to table, second job I am an avid thrifter, a social butterfly, and always searching for new and amazing restaurants. For some reason I have recently been reading a lot of those weird books about fixing things using house-hold solutions and very slowly been building a gin bar using interesting and offbeat gins.
