Megan and Jay met at work while bonding over their love for running and biking. It wasn’t until a year after their first date that they officially began dating. Sooner than they knew, they got engaged in Vancouver!

The couple had their Hindu ceremony the day before their traditional American wedding at Gorton Community Center. Their Hindu ceremony was so colorful and vibrant, matching perfectly with their autumn surroundings. Take a look at the photos of their wedding weekend by Z+V Photography below.

The next day, they had their more traditional American ceremony and reception at Elawa Farm in Lake Forest, Illinois. They incorporated many sweet details into their wedding and reception. They brought their two cultural backgrounds and made their wedding very unique to them.

Their beautiful, simplistic wedding cake was by Elysia Root Cakes – adorned with fresh floral by Fab Flora – and it featured a little figurine of their pup at the bottom taking a bite of their cake!3

The dinner reception was held in a tent outside – provided by Blue Peak Tents, Inc. It was warm and romantic inside. The food by FIG Catering was all very fall inspired, and incorporated both Indian and traditional American fare into their dinner. 2-1

Megan and Jay incorporated their love for reading into their centerpieces. These centerpieces were made up of amazing vintage books. Their table numbers were wooden leaf cutouts that hung from the centerpieces (resembling bookmarks!). 6-17-114-3

We loved their vintage furniture vignette by Rent Vintage Chicago.

There was more wood incorporated throughout the decor, such as their guest book (which was a wooden plank with a portrait of them and their dog etched in). The escort cards were also propped up by mini-tree stumps. All the paper goods were made by Spilled Ink Press204549

Other vendors involved were Cage + Aquarium, Windy City Limousine, Pattie Campbell and Debra Petrielli.

Their wedding was the perfect combination of rustic, personal, and a fusion of their two cultures. There were so many sweet details that made this event truly their own. Happy anniversary, you two!
