One year ago today, Corrina was in for the surprise of her life. She woke up in the morning, not engaged, and by the end of the night she would be married to the love of her life, Patrick.
Patrick planned their entire wedding with the help of Carlene in a matter of three weeks. Prior to this, Patrick and Corrina had discussed getting married, and what they wanted their wedding to be like. One huge sticking point in these discussions, however, was that Corrina did not want to plan it. She kept telling him how nice it would be just to be able to “show up” to their wedding, eliminating the stress leading up to it. So, Patrick did exactly that for his bride. He hired Naturally Yours Events and made it all happen! Carlene knew that Patrick (and Corrina) would be the perfect client for Naturally Yours Events because they are mindful, sustainable, and lovely people. Patrick liked our sustainable approach to planning, and he knew Corrina would too.
After Patrick popped the big questions at Lacuna Artist Loft Studios in the morning, preparations began at Ovation Chicago where they would tie the knot. Tuan B & Co was able to capture their magical day through these wonderful photos.
One of Carlene’s favorite parts about wedding planning is injecting personalized details into every aspect of the event. Carlene was able to learn about Patrick and Corrina’s relationship very quickly with the help from Patrick. She learned where Corrina likes to shop, what their home looks like, where they like to eat, what their favorite colors are, and everything in between. Patrick was able to give her the answers that really shaped their wedding.
Corrina grew up in a Jewish household and has Indian roots, so Patrick made sure to incorporate that into her wedding gown and other areas of the day. Her beautiful dress, made partly with Sari fabric, was fitted and designed by Elaya Vaughn Bridal. The bridal party looked amazing with the help of Nika Vaughan Bridal Artists, Noktivo, and K Styles by Katie.
To pay tribute to Corrina’s Jewish heritage, we made sure to include a beautiful hanging piece (done by Forget Me Knodt) as the backdrop to the ceremony- which had a draped tallit belonging to her father. The International Beethoven Project played gorgeous music as the ceremony began, and Joette Waters of Affermative Ceremonies officiated. Both personal friends of the couple.
Corrina’s good friend flew out from California to sing a beautiful, original song at their ceremony. Afterward, the couple’s friends from AyOH played during cocktail hour. It was so important to Patrick that he had Corrina’s family and close friends involved in the wedding and supporting the two of them. It was so heartwarming to see and feel the love in that room!
Previously, Corrina had asked Patrick to make her a farm table for their dining room, so we decided to incorporate that into their decor. Carlene found out that Corrina’s nickname is “Birdie” and that she likes to call Patrick “Pattycake”, so we thought it’d be cute to put their nicknames on the back of their chairs. The lovely printed goods were provided by Chykalophia.
The floral (also provided by Forget Me Knodt) consisted of very simple and elegant white flowers, with pops of purple, all nestled in teal vintage vases. This allowed us to bring the couple’s favorite colors into the elegant and fun arrangements. For varierty, half the tables were adorned with the eclectic mix of teal vases with flowers, and the other tables had long logs of birch to hold little tea light candles.
Since Corrina loves to shop for vintage and playful pieces for her home, we incorporated fun combinations of vintage glassware and plates provided by The Festive Frog that had gold and teal details. M&M Special Events provided the gorgeous runners and linen napkins to complement.
Dinner, provided by FIG Catering, was a delicious spread that honored Chicago’s ethnically diverse neighborhoods and some of the couple’s favorite cuisines. This menu style was Patrick’s way of honoring the city in which they two of them met and fell in love.
Elysia Root Cakes provided the lovely cake, that was simple, smooth white buttercream adorned with real succulents. The adorable cake topper consisted of two little birds. Black Dog Gelato provided the most scrumptious gelato as well! After sweets were had, Style Matters DJs got everyone out on the dance floor!
Despite the fact that we only had three weeks to plan an entire wedding, we were able to plan an incredibly personalized day for this couple. This ranged from where they like to shop, what their personal and combined aesthetics are, their heritage, favorite colors, favorite food, their nicknames, and even the city in which they fell in love. We are so honored to be a part of Patrick and Corrina’s wedding day, and make it into a party that was truly a reflection of both of them.
Happy anniversary, you two love birds!
