Happy Anniversary: Colleen and Nick!

I love intimate weddings! Colleen and Nick put so much of their love for family, friends, and food into their wedding day and it turned out just perfect! I am so happy to wish them a wonderful first year of marriage.

Colleen was living and working out of Berlin, with Nick back here in Chicago, when she hired us to pull together the details of the big day.  Since they knew they would both be moving to London after the wedding, they wanted one of their last nights in Chicago to be at their favorite neighborhood restaurant-  Birchwood Kitchen. It was a perfect cozy restaurant for their wedding day; and love how they  focus on local and seasonal menus!

Colleen rented her dress from Rent the Runway. With the help of Mignonette Bridal, she added touches from her grandmother’s bridal cap to make the wedding dress pin. Just lovely!

The day was actually very rainy but the clouds parted just in time for the ceremony. We quickly pulled down the siding off the tent on Birchwood’s patio and everyone greeted the couple down the aisle for a standing ceremony. It was so wonderful to see their best pal and puppy as ring bearer.

Colleen and Nick kept things simple for decor with mason jars filled with roses and lovely lavender sprigs. Soft candle lighting with birch wood votive candles (made by the father of the bride) added the perfect touch.

Music was performed by a family friend, Rob Bolin, and drinks were hand shaken by Femme du Coupe. Sweets from Hoosier Mama Pie Company and black dog gelato were a crowd pleaser for sure!
