It’s the 5th of May- Happy Cinco De Mayo to everyone! We are celebrating with a post of Amanda and Bo’s Cinco De Mayo wedding from last year. Check out these photos of the day’s festivities from Jolie Images.

Amanda and Bo got ready together at their home near Lincoln Park. They chose not to have a formal wedding party but did want to incorporate this adorable first look!

Amanda and Bo had an intimate ceremony in Lincoln Park with just their closest family members and officiant. No chairs, no music- just the two of them vowing to one another.

After the ceremony and photos, it was clearly time to celebrate! Being Cinco De Mayo, this couple kept things very festive. The reception was at Kitchen Chicago, a shared kitchen and venue space right near downtown. Being that many food trucks and caterers rent out this space, Amanda and Bo chose to work with The Tamale Spaceship as their caterer. Fish tacos, tamales, guacamole, rice and beans- this menu was perfect for the day’s celebration. Tamale Spaceship even wore their fun masks while serving up to guests, and Carol’s Event Staffing kept the wine/beer flowing from the bar.

Amanda and Bo went DIY all the way with their decor. They hand tied their napkins in festive ribbons, picked up flowers and packed them in mason jars, and gave us a lot of fun paper poms and fans to string around the room. From top to bottom, we made sure their vision and handmade details were exactly placed as they imagined- and better!

One of the details to love were the favors. Instead of a wasteful takeaway, the couple gave their guests their very own mason jar mug. I just love the sign that accompanied the jars that read “your margarita glass for the night or whatever tastes right.” Yes- you heard right- they had a margarita machine (from Margarita Man) to keep those glasses full!

After dinner, the couple went right to the cake cutting- and what a lovely cake it was! Amanda’s friend is a pastry chef and had a lot of fun making this cake colorful, tasty, and festive. Then DJ-Chicago kept everyone out on the dance floor all night.

Finally, what better way to end a party on the 5th of May? With a piñata of course! That adorable green donkey did not go down without a fight, that is for sure. But it made for some very fun entertainment.
