Indie Wed is an alternative to the traditional bridal expo. It focuses on promoting and supporting small independent businesses and couples that want something a little different. July 21st was its first summer soirée show and I had a blast meeting new vendors and seeing familiar faces. Here is what I LOVED from the event:

OrangeBeautiful

I was very happy to hear how eco-friendly OrangeBeautiful’s letterpress stationary and paper goods are. They use recycled paper, local suppliers and operate sustainably. On top of that,  their work is truly unique and fun! Choose from creative templates or have one of these talented ladies create a custom design for you.

Bleeding Heart Bakery

Local. Sustainable. Punk Rock! What more could you want? Delicious cupcakes, cakeballs, fruit tortes, s’mores, and mini lemon tarts… yeah, they have that, too, and more! Even better than the taste, all of their goods are made with local, organic, and sustainable ingredients. Visit their site or, better yet, visit the bakery!

Annie Jane Bridal is a custom bridal studio based in Chicago. Designer Kelsey Kreiling works with brides to design dresses that they will LOVE. She restores vintage gowns and knows a thing or two about going eco-chic!

Clandestino Catering

It is so great to see more sustainable catering companies here in Chicago. This underground dining operation has opened the flood gates and now offers private event catering. Clandestino is committed to using local, sustainable and seasonal ingredients, sometimes from their own farm!

Figs & Ginger

Figs & Ginger really care about their products and making them earth friendly. They specialize in eco-jewelry and have beautiful cake toppers and banners made from sustainable sourced wood. I can’t get enough of their silhouette cake toppers!

plate

I could not be more excited about this uniquely awesome rental company! Chicago has waited too long for the opportunity to rent mismatched vintage place settings, and plate has answered the call. Their company was formed by two friends, both getting married this year, who wanted to add the whimsical elegance of vintage tablescapes to their wedding. Now we all can enjoy their wonderful finds!
